Guide 01 · How online betting works
How does online betting work?
You put a stake on an outcome at a price, called the odds. If the outcome happens, you get your stake multiplied by the odds. At odds of 2.50, a ₹100 bet returns ₹250: your ₹100 back plus ₹150 profit. On an exchange you can also lay, which means betting that something won't happen.
- Lower odds mean the market thinks an outcome is more likely. Odds of 1.25 pay ₹25 profit on ₹100, and odds of 2.00 pay ₹100.
- When you lay, you take the other side of someone's back bet. Your risk is their profit, so laying ₹100 at 3.00 puts ₹200 at risk.
- Only bet money you can afford to lose. Many players keep each stake to a small, fixed share of their budget, such as 1 to 2 percent, so one bad evening doesn't empty the account.
