Toss market guide
The first market of the match, and the simplest.
A toss bet is settled before a ball is bowled. This guide covers how to place one on KhelKing, how it settles, and what the odds cost you over time, including why betting on both teams loses money.

At a glance
01In brief
A toss bet is a bet on which captain wins the coin toss before a cricket match. On KhelKing you open the match before the toss, back or lay a team in the toss market, and the bet settles on the official toss result. If no toss takes place, every toss bet is void and stakes are returned.
02Six steps
It works like any other bet on KhelKing, with one difference: you have to place it before the captains walk out.
01Step 1 of 6
Log in and find the match in cricket. The toss market only takes bets until the toss happens. A bet placed after the result is known is void, and the stake goes back to your balance.
02Step 2 of 6
Back the team you think will win the toss, or lay the one you think will lose it. On a two-team market, both come to the same thing.
03Step 3 of 6
Toss prices are usually just under 2.00 on both sides. At 1.91, a ₹100 back bet wins ₹91 if you're right and loses ₹100 if you're wrong.
04Step 4 of 6
Pick an amount you'd spend on a match ticket or a snack, not a share of your bankroll you're counting on.
Treat a toss bet as part of the fun of the match. It isn't a market you can get better at.
05Step 5 of 6
Check the team and stake on the bet slip, then confirm. On the exchange the bet stands once another player takes the other side.
06Step 6 of 6
The bet settles on the official toss result, and any winnings go to your balance. If the toss doesn't happen, because of rain for example, all toss bets are void.
03The maths
At 1.91 each team implies a 52.4% chance, or 104.7% between them, though the real chance is 50% each. That gap is the margin. Bet on both teams and you pay it on every toss:
| Bet | If Team A wins the toss | If Team B wins the toss |
|---|---|---|
| Back Team A, ₹100 | +₹91 | −₹100 |
| Back Team B, ₹100 | −₹100 | +₹91 |
| Result | −₹9 | −₹9 |
At odds under 2.00 on a 50/50 toss, you lose about 4.5% of what you stake over time. Any single run of tosses can go either way.
04Myths
Myth: "Venue toss records give you an edge"
In fact: A fair coin has no memory. A ground's history tells you what captains choose after winning the toss, not who wins it.
Myth: "Betting both teams guarantees a profit"
In fact: On one market it guarantees a small loss, as the table above shows. Locking in a profit needs two prices that imply less than 100% between them, which a normal toss market doesn't offer.
Myth: "Toss winnings are free money to bet again"
In fact: Winnings are your money. Rolling them straight into the next market is how a small, planned bet becomes a big unplanned one.
05After the toss
Venue and weather can't tell you who wins the toss. They do shape what the winning captain chooses next, and that's where they're worth reading.
The captain who wins the toss chooses. Dew in a night game, a green pitch or a dry surface that will turn later can make that choice matter.
Once the decision is known, match odds can shift a little to reflect who bats first in those conditions.

A toss bet is a bet on which captain wins the coin toss before a cricket match. On KhelKing you open the match before the toss, back or lay a team in the toss market, and the bet settles on the official toss result. If no toss takes place, every toss bet is void and stakes are returned.
No. The toss is a coin flip, so neither team is more likely to win it. Venue records and recent results describe past tosses and don't change the next one.
Before the toss takes place. A toss bet placed after the result is known is void, and the stake is returned to your balance.
You can, but on the same market it locks in a loss. ₹100 on each team at 1.91 returns ₹191 from the winning side against ₹200 staked, so you lose ₹9 whoever wins.
All toss bets are void, and stakes go back to your balance.
It can. The captain who wins the toss chooses to bat or bowl, and in conditions such as heavy dew that choice can move the match odds a little.
Not always. Open the match in your account to see which markets it has.
Betting involves financial risk. Only stake money you can afford to lose. 18+ only.
