Key takeaways

  1. Your total return on a bet is the stake times the odds, so ₹100 at 2.50 returns ₹250, of which ₹150 is profit.
  2. A match winner bet with a small stake on a game you know well is the simplest first bet.
  3. A common rule is to stake 1 to 5 percent of your bankroll per bet, so ₹20 to ₹100 on ₹2,000.
  4. Deposits go through UPI, and withdrawals go to a UPI or bank account in your name.

01In brief

What is online betting?

Online betting means staking money on the result of a sports event or casino game through a website. You pick an event, a market within it and a selection, then choose your stake. The odds tell you what you get back if you're right: your stake multiplied by the odds.

  4. Stake₹100

If India win, this bet returns ₹250: the ₹100 stake plus ₹150 profit.

02Odds

How do betting odds work?

Decimal odds include your stake. Multiply the stake by the odds to get the total return, then take away the stake to see the profit. Lower odds mean the market thinks an outcome is more likely, so they pay less.

Where the margin hides

In a two-way market priced at 1.90 on each side, each price implies a 52.6% chance, or 105.3% together. The 5.3% over 100 is the bookmaker's margin, which is why both sides of an even contest pay less than even money.

03Bet types

What are the main types of bet?

You'll see these six across most sports. Start with match winner, then try the others once you're comfortable reading the odds.

  • Match winner

    01

Who wins the match. It's the simplest market, and the one most beginners start with.

  • Over/under

    02

Whether a total, such as runs in an innings or goals in a game, finishes above or below a line.

  • Handicap

    03

One side starts with a head start or a deficit, which evens out a mismatch between teams.

  • Session and fancy

    04

Cricket markets on the runs by a set over, a player's score or the next wicket.

  • In-play

    05

Bets placed while the match is live, at prices that move after every ball.

  • Back and lay

    06

On an exchange you can back an outcome to happen or lay it, which means betting it won't.

  • Most are paid within minutes, and the current average is about five.
  • Finish KYC before your first withdrawal, so your first payout doesn't wait for the check.
  • Try a small withdrawal first to confirm your details work.

Support can tell you the current minimum deposit and withdrawal. KhelKing never asks for a fee or tax to release a withdrawal.

05Bankroll

How much should you bet?

Bet only money you can afford to lose, and keep each stake to a small, fixed share of that bankroll. Between 1 and 5 percent a bet is a common range, and the lower end suits beginners. On a ₹2,000 bankroll, that's ₹20 to ₹100 a bet.

  • Pick a stop-loss for the day, such as a quarter of your bankroll, and stop when you reach it.
  • Never raise your stake to win back a loss.
  • Set a deposit limit so the plan still holds on a bad night.

1%₹2050
2%₹4025

Smaller stakes give you more bets to learn from before a losing run does real damage.
